Script for shamrock podcast

Stereotypically, members of fraternities and sororities are seen as party obsessed individuals. At The College of New Jersey Greek life isn’t just about gossip, parties, and drinking. The Greek organizations on our campus care greatly about volunteering and community service. All of the fraternities and sororities sponsor annual fundraising events for national philanthropies. For example, Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with their event The Lion King and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity has their Gladiator event in order to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. My sorority, Kappa Delta, has annual events for 4 national philanthropies. Our biggest event of the year is called Shamrockin’ Runway, which raises money for Prevent Child Abuse America. The event is a mock pageant in which contestants compete in talent, formal wear, and casual wear segments. We also have a raffle where local companies donate gift certificates and baskets to help raise money for our cause. A local Italian restaurant, Mamma Floras, donated gift certificates for us to award to our winners
This year the event took place on March 27 in the Brower Student Center on the TCNJ campus. Members from 10 different campus organizations volunteered their time in order to participate in Shamrockin’ Runway. With their help we were able to raise over one thousand dollars for Prevent Child Abuse America. This money goes to their efforts of raising awareness and preventing child abuse and neglect in the United States. National Kappa Delta has been working with Prevent Child Abuse America since 1982. Since this partnership began, National Kappa Delta has contributed over 7 million dollars to the organization. Kappa Delta at The College of New Jersey continues to hold Shamrockin’ Runway every year and each year the event gets bigger and better.
