For the ENG news assignment in Professor Carbonaro's Writing and Announcing for Broadcast class our topic is the New Jersey budget cuts. Specifically, how will these budget cuts affect The College of New Jersey.
Meghan: First of all, I enjoyed the silly theme music. Although, I could've done without your little dance, Will. Meghan looks and sounds great on camera! Your interviews were hilarious, although I would have liked to have seen more B-roll shots. Like I said to Josh and Sarah, it's hard to believe this was your first time doing a project like this. The first time I had to film for a project it was really horrible and I was really embarassed about it!! You, on the other hand, should be very, very proud of your work. Great job!
Meghan and Will: First off, I loved the menu music, and I’m sure the rest of the class did as well. Your student interviews were amazing, and it made the clip entertaining, which was probably hard given the subject matter of budget cuts. I also liked how you had the Brower Student Center sign as a good establishing shot. Meghan’s voiceover is pleasant to listen to, and she has a great voice for reporting. For the criticisms, I thought it was a little strange to see just Meghan speaking into the camera for a minute or so. It would have been nice to incorporate more B-roll shots to break it up a bit. But other than that, for your first times doing a project like this, as I said to Josh and Sarah, I thought you guys did an excellent job!
Hey, Meghan! So, my sentiments mirror the in class comments very closely. The script was very well written and the information was great. I didn't particularly like opening with the stand-up, but that's just me. Speaking of the stand-up, you know now to cover up your cuts with B-roll to smooth it out and make it seamless. Still, overall it was a good job. I feel your pain, being new to it all as well! Way to push through it.
